Where do the modem strings go?

Windows 95/98/ME: Open the My Computer icon, then open Dial-up Networking. RIGHT click once on the CTC Net icon, then LEFT click on Properties. Click Configure then click on the Connection tab, then Advanced. Type the modem string in the Extra Settings box. Click OK until you are back out to Dial-up Networking. Close Dial-Up Networking and the Control Panel.

Windows XP:  Click Start then Control Panel. Open Printers & Other Hardware under the Category view. Open the Phone & Modem Options. Click on the Modems tab, then click Properties, then the Advanced tab. The modem string should be entered in the Extra initialization commands field. Click OK twice to save changes. Close the Printers & Hardware window.
